On New Year’s Eve, TV BRICS to air films and programmes about Brazil and India

The television editorial team of the TV BRICS International Media Network has prepared a special New Year’s broadcast dedicated to the countries chairing the BRICS group in 2025 and 2026.

The Brazil segment, marking the country’s BRICS Chairmanship in 2025, will begin with an interview with the Ambassador of Brazil to Russia, Sergio Rodrigues dos Santos. It will be aired on the Russian-language TV BRICS channel at 20:45 Moscow time. In BRICSterview, the diplomat will speak about the principles underlying dialogue between countries, Brazil’s export potential in Russia, and the role of BRICS in representing the interests of the Global South.

Before the Kremlin chimes, viewers will see two more documentary films from Brazil: at 21:00, “Heritage” (“Herança – A Cavalhada em Brumal”, 2018), about the traditional cavalcade in the city of Brumadinho, and at 22:05, “The Sounds of Chamamé” (“Ao Som do Chamamé”, 2025), about a musical genre recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

“The TV BRICS International Media Network promotes the development of humanitarian and economic ties within BRICS, including through broadcasting the national agendas of the group’s countries on its own television channels. TV BRICS channels have an informational and educational focus. In the New Year’s programme schedule, we adhered to the same principle, presenting images of two countries in different formats through stories told by journalists and film directors from Russia, India and Brazil – partners of TV BRICS. The festive broadcast will bring together viewers who are interested in international cooperation and fascinated by country studies. We invite everyone to embark on a journey to Brazil and India and welcome the coming year on TV BRICS”

Editor-in-Chief of the TV BRICS television network

After midnight, already in 2026, the broadcast will be dedicated to India, the next chairing country. First, viewers will learn about the traditional theatrical art of the state of Tamil Nadu from the documentary “Terukkuttu” (2025), starting at 00:10. The programme will continue at 00:30 with an interview with the Ambassador of India to Russia, Vinay Kumar. He will answer questions about the role of BRICS in the global economy, cooperation with Russia, and cultural exchange. At 00:45, the Indian segment will conclude with the film “Whispers of the Wild Mandgadde Nataraj” (2025) about the work of a wildlife photographer in the Western Ghats.
