Venezuela’s national softball team has claimed victory at the 2025 Men’s Softball World Cup, defeating New Zealand 3–0 in the final. The match marked the culmination of the 18th edition of the tournament.
The team arrived back in the country to a hero’s welcome at Simon Bolivar International Airport, near Caracas, before travelling in a celebratory parade to the capital. Venezuela’s Minister of Sport, Franklin Cardillo, greeted the players and praised their achievement, as reported by Venezolana de Television, a partner of TV BRICS.
Maiker Pimentel, named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, said the team’s success was the result of discipline, unity, and a deep commitment to representing their country. Teammates Angel Adames and Engelberth Herrera echoed this sentiment, expressing pride and excitement at sharing the moment with supporters back home.
Minister Cardillo credited a government-backed training initiative launched in February under President Nicolas Maduro’s direction for helping to prepare the team for international competition. He described the win as a source of national pride and underlined the significance of the achievement for Venezuelan families who followed the tournament via national television.
