Brazil has finalised a trade agreement with Malaysia allowing the export of guarana powder to the Southeast Asian nation, according to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
Native to the Amazon region, guarana is highly prized for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Demand for the plant is growing steadily among global food and beverage industries. Brazil remains the world’s largest producer and exporter of this fruit.
In 2024, Malaysian imports of Brazilian agricultural goods exceeded US$1.27 billion, with key purchases including sugar, textile fibres, cereals, flours, coffee, and meats.
