The Indonesian government has raised its target for school revitalisation in 2025, increasing the number of schools to be renovated from 10,440 to 13,763. The initiative is supported by a budget allocation of 6.9 trillion rupiahs (approximately US$1.03 billion). This is reported by Antara News.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti confirmed that the renovation work is actively progressing, with local communities directly involved in managing construction projects at the school level. The programme has also created nearly 423,000 jobs nationwide.
During the 2025 National Education Day commemoration, country’s President Prabowo launched four strategic government programmes under the education sector’s Quick-Win initiatives.
Alongside infrastructure improvements, the strategy includes efforts to digitalise classrooms through the distribution of smart boards, tuition assistance for teacher training, and extended support for contract-based teaching staff.
