With the development of transport and logistics infrastructure and the simplification of the visa regime for tourist groups, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Russia’s Amur Region has grown substantially. This was stated by Ekaterina Kireeva, the Minister of Foreign Relations and Tourism of the Amur Region, in an interview with Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
“Now we see great interest from our Chinese friends to visit Blagoveshchensk, the Amur Region, and other Far Eastern cities. In tourism, this incoming flow has increased significantly,” the Minister emphasised.
According to the news agency, the Amur Region is implementing various business, cultural, and humanitarian initiatives to boost tourism. These efforts include organising business forums, fairs, and festivals. A standout event is the annual Winter Sports Festival held on the Amur Ice, which has gained significant recognition. Additionally, the China-Russia Culture and Art Fair is growing in prominence.
Medical tourism has become a popular trend, with an increasing number of Russians travelling to China for healthcare services. This tendency is seen not only in the Amur Region but also in other parts of Russia.
“We see how much success the Chinese side has achieved in creating new modern medical centres. Of course, traditional Chinese medicine is a brand of China, and the demand for it is enormous,” noted Kireeva.
