BRICS is becoming a platform for equitable cooperation and a major centre of attraction for the growing economies of the Global South, said Aleksander Ionov, Member of the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, in an exclusive interview with TV BRICS.
He emphasised that the upcoming BRICS summit will take place amid rapidly increasing interest from developing countries in joining the group.
“Accordingly, BRICS’ role will grow significantly in the next five years, and more countries will join the organisation,” Ionov said.
According to him, BRICS already exerts a substantial influence on key global processes in the fields of economy, politics, security, and regional stability.
The expert also highlighted the importance of integrating new members and aligning their development models with the existing BRICS structures. He believes greater technological exchange, increased trade turnover, and the creation of new cooperation mechanisms are necessary to ensure the bloc’s continued development and attractiveness to new participants.
