India has enacted a new law to overhaul its sports administration system, as reported by News9, a partner of TV BRICS.
The National Sports Governance Act, approved by the President, represents the culmination of over a decade of efforts to reform sports administration in the country. The legislation was passed in both houses of parliament following extensive discussions with stakeholders.
The new law establishes clear governance criteria for all sports organisations in India, setting a new standard for how sports are managed and operated. It also mandates the creation of a National Sports Tribunal, designed to provide swift and efficient resolution of disputes within the sports sector.
Furthermore, the act calls for the establishment of a National Sports Election Panel to oversee elections within national sports federations.
