India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated. This is reported by IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the Prime Minister, India remains the fastest-growing major economy globally. Citing recent World Bank data, Prime Minister Modi noted that over 250 million people in India have been lifted out of extreme poverty in the past decade, thanks to targeted welfare programs by central and state governments.
India now ranks as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, with nearly 120 unicorns and significant leadership by women entrepreneurs, as reported by the source.
India’s digital payments infrastructure, led by the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), now facilitates nearly half of the world’s real-time digital transactions.
Prime Minister Modi also announced that Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards will now be extended to sixth-generation descendants, reaffirming India’s commitment to its global diaspora.
Furthermore, he highlighted new India’s initiatives to strengthen engagement with the Girmitiya community. These include the creation of a comprehensive database, documentation of ancestral villages, and preservation of cultural legacies.
