Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and his Peruvian counterpart Dina Boluarte have overseen the signing of the Indonesia-Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Jakarta, as reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Prabowo described the agreement as a historic step that will widen market access and boost trade between the two nations. Boluarte’s visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and is the first by a Peruvian head of state since formal relations began in 1975.
The two leaders pledged closer cooperation and collaboration in sectors including food, mining, fisheries, and energy transition. Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s support for Peru’s engagement with ASEAN.
Boluarte, who described Indonesia as a key partner and Peru’s sixth-largest trading partner in Asia, announced that Peruvian blueberries will now be exported to Indonesia, joining existing exports of quinoa and grapes. She expressed hopes for easier access for other products such as pomegranates and invited Indonesian investors to take part in Peru’s infrastructure and logistics projects.
