Iranian scientists have developed an innovative diagnostic kit to detect gastrointestinal (GI) cancer, which the developers say is superior to existing analogues in terms of accuracy and cost. This is reported by Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to Imran Imami, a technologist from Isfahan, the development of the kit has been underway for 8 years and is based on advanced technology. Its commercialisation is expected to be an important step in early diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
The key advantage of the new kit is its high accuracy in determining the nature of masses in the colon. Unlike existing methods, which often fail to distinguish between cancerous and benign tumours, the Iranian development provides an accuracy of more than 90 per cent, which significantly increases the chances of timely and effective treatment.
