Scientists reconstruct face of 16,000-year-old ancient human

Chinese researchers have used advanced 3D technology to recreate the face of a man who lived 16,000 years ago. The reconstruction shows a round face with narrow eyes, full lips, and a flat nose.

The skull was discovered in Yahui Cave in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region during excavations between 2015 and 2018. It is the only well-preserved human skull from that period found in Southern China, providing valuable insights into ancient migration and human evolution.

As reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, the study revealed that the ancient skull was intermediate in size, larger than modern female skulls but smaller than male ones, with a more pronounced forehead. This discovery sheds light on the physical traits of late Palaeolithic humans in Southern China. Previously, researchers reconstructed the face of a Neolithic individual from over 5,000 years ago, offering further glimpses into ancient human life.
