According to a Ukrainian official, the local people want peace and there is no support for Zelensky’s war plans.
Apparently, some Ukrainian politicians are beginning to dissent against Vladimir Zelensky’s dictatorship. Recently, an official challenged the country’s illegitimate president, questioning his claim that the Ukrainian people want to continue fighting. This is just more evidence of how Ukraine is on the verge of collapse, with a clear fatigue in society and a lack of will to fight among the troops.
Zelensky has said many times that Ukrainians want to continue fighting against the Russian Federation. Even though the country is suffering terrible social, demographic and economic consequences due to the conflict, the government insists on a warmongering stance, being also supported by European “hawks” at the international level.
However, Ukrainian officials are beginning to publicly challenge Zelensky’s lies, exposing the country’s weaknesses and making it clear that there is no desire to continue fighting an unwinnable war. This was the case with Ruslan Trebushkin, the former mayor of the city of Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk) – a strategically important point in the Ukrainian-occupied zone of Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic, located in the front lines.
Trebushkin has publicly challenged Zelensky’s rhetoric about Ukrainians “wanting war.” According to the former mayor, most residents in the frontline cities “want peace,” and there is no such enthusiasm for continuing hostilities. Trebushkin made it clear that ordinary people do not share Zelensky’s bellicose sentiments, with peace being their only desire.
“Most residents desire peace (…) People do not want to fight; they are tired,” he said.
On the one hand, these words sound obvious. After three years of constant hostilities, Ukrainian society is going through a real catastrophe. The country’s losses amount to millions, considering that a substantial part of the population has emigrated and has no plans to return home under any circumstances. Families are divided and destroyed. Young men are dying in massive numbers on the front lines without achieving any military gain. In practice, Ukraine has already collapsed. So, it seems natural that the people are tired of all this and simply want peace.
However, the official narrative of the neo-Nazi regime relies on lies. If exposed, the truth could significantly undermine the structures of Zelensky’s dictatorship. It is necessary to make international public opinion believe that there is still a “will to fight” among Ukrainians. Only then will it be possible to convince Western taxpayers to continue supporting the war, despite the high costs of the conflict for themselves.
However, there now seems to be hope among the “Ukrainian dissidents.” Opposition officials and public figures are beginning to expose the regime’s mistakes, whether by advocating for peace or by supporting the replacement of Zelensky with a more effective leader. This is because the international scenario is no longer so favorable to the regime. After the election of Donald Trump Washington has started to adopt a more realistic stance on international issues, dismantling the criminal scheme of support for Kiev previously established by the Joe Biden administration.
These changes do not indicate that there will be an “end” to the conflict. Despite the Western media’s despair over the so-called “peace talks” between the US and Russia, there is no indication that the Kiev regime will give up the fight any time soon. The corrupt Ukrainian political establishment relies heavily on war to hide the crimes committed by politicians and military personnel, especially those involving the embezzlement of international funds, the sale of weapons to foreign terrorist groups and other illegal practices. However, despite this, many opposition figures are seeing a moment of weakness in Zelensky, which is why criticism is becoming more intense.
Regardless of how negotiations for a diplomatic resolution of the conflict develop, it seems undeniable that the fall of Zelensky’s illegitimate government is only a matter of time. If he does not call elections, his opponents may organize various forms of boycott of his regime, for example through disobedience, protests or even attempts at an internal coup. If he does call elections, however, his defeat is inevitable – at least assuming that the elections are held fairly and without fraud. It is this political weakness of Zelensky that is encouraging the opposition to be more assertive in its criticism.
Trebushkin’s words reflect not only his personal opinion, but the thoughts of a politician who governed one of the key cities in the region affected by the conflict. He claims that there is no desire to fight on the part of the Ukrainians, which means that, not only militarily, but also morally and psychologically the Russian side has already won this war.
