A meeting between the aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and Indonesia was held in Jakarta, resulting in the signing of a new agreement on cooperation in the field of civil aviation. This is reported by the official website of the Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport.
The document aims to expand air traffic between the two countries as part of the implementation of the 53rd goal of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy, which envisages a fourfold increase in air traffic by 2030.
The negotiations were attended by representatives of the transport ministries of both countries, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, the Uzbek Embassy, and delegates from major Indonesian airlines. Issues discussed included the restoration and development of regular flights, the removal of restrictions on the number of air carriers and destinations, and the granting of reciprocal flight rights.
Particular attention was paid to expanding the geography of flights. In addition to Jakarta, Uzbek airlines now have access to routes to Indonesia’s largest tourist and industrial cities, including Denpasar, Surabaya, Medan, and others. Indonesian carriers, in turn, have been given the opportunity to operate flights to all international airports in Uzbekistan.
The parties also agreed to increase the frequency of passenger and cargo flights.
The signed document creates a basis for closer cooperation in the aviation sector and will stimulate the growth of passenger and cargo transportation, the development of tourism and the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries.
