Uzbekistan introduces golden visas for investors

Uzbekistan is launching a new migration initiative – five-year golden visas for foreigners from 1 June 2025. The corresponding decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons will be able to get a residence permit for five years, having contributed US$200,000 to the Uzbek economy. For each family member (spouses, children or parents) – an additional payment of US$100,000 will be required.

The programme is aimed at stimulating investment and creating comfortable conditions for living and doing business in the country. It is expected to attract entrepreneurs and highly qualified specialists to the republic.

Similar initiatives are being implemented in many countries. For example, the UAE has golden visa programmes (for investors, scientists, public figures and valuable specialists for 10 years) and green visa (for freelancers and workers without a sponsor-employer for 5 years). A 10-year blue visa programme for people who have made a significant contribution to environmental protection has also recently been launched.
