Venezuela received a shipment of 1,600,251 units of insulin from the Russian Federation this week. The consignment, which arrived at the international airport in La Guaira, also included 64,994 insulin pens and related medical equipment, aimed at strengthening the public health system, reported teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.
Magaly Gutierrez, Venezuela’s Minister of Popular Power for Health, emphasised that the delivery reflects the “brotherhood” between Presidents Nicolas Maduro and Vladimir Putin, who, she said, “together forge a path of cooperation and resilience”.
The media outlet emphasised that the shipment is the result of bilateral agreements between the two governments, designed not only to ensure immediate distribution of insulin but also to support local production of the medicine, thereby boosting Venezuela’s healthcare capacity.
This latest delivery follows previous shipments of Russian medical aid, including 226,000 yellow fever vaccines in August, which strengthened the country’s Expanded Immunisation Programme (PAI).
